Remember to breathe
– In
A pull of cold air
That brings a touch of winter
To the back of your throat
– Hold –
Eyes closed
Remember that you are strong:
A woman holding all the world together with both hands.
Out –
A spring flow of warmth
That pushes away your poisons
And takes them as a life-gift to the trees
– Wait –
A moment of emptiness
A withdrawal into yourself
To a comforting calm
– In
The rising of your chest
That pushes up your heart’s chamber
And expands your being
– Hold –
Eyes closed
Remember that you are brave:
A survivor who has grown from every frightening moment past..
Out –
The slow release of your body
Your shoulders guided to rest
In a return to your very first state
– Wait –
A moment of body silence
Muscles untaxed
Falling to the bounds of skin and tendon
– In
The earth filling you
With the smell of its work
And the breath of the trees coming back to you.
– Hold –
Eyes closed
Remember that you matter as you are:
A hand-crafted child of god, whose thoughts and skill and love move the world
Out –
You filling the earth
With the taste of your spirit
Carried on the lungs’ deepest offerings
– Wait –
A moment of knowing
That you are Creation’s creature,
Your nature a part of nature
Remember to breathe
